2. Safety
2.1. Introduction
Observe the instructions in this manual before you start working with the product. If you fail to follow the instructions from this manual you can put yourself and others in danger.
Always comply with the information, such as labels and the nameplate, attached directly to the product and keep the information in a legible condition.
Comply with the most stringent of either the applicable laws and regulations or guidance from this manual.
2.2. Intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse
Business Pro & Lite 2.1 / 2.2 are charge point models intended for charging electrical vehicles compatible with IEC-61851 Mode 3 definition and requirements. Electrical vehicles and cables used with this charge point should always be undamaged and in their original state.
The Business Pro & Lite 2.1 / 2.2 is especially suited for larger parking areas where multiple charge points are needed. The Business Line uses Dynamic Power Sharing to evenly distribute the energy consumption throughout the connected charge points.
Dynamic Power Sharing can be realised by connecting multiple charge points with ethernet cables in a daisy-chain or star configuration. Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.

The product must only be operated within its performance limits and under the permitted ambient conditions, see chapter 3.3. Technical specifications.
Use of adaptors, conversion adapters, or extension sets for cables is not allowed.

The following is considered foreseeable misuse:

use in an environment that varies from or exceeds the given environmental conditions.

2.3. Qualification of installer
Only authorised technicians are allowed to perform installation and maintenance of the product. They must possess the following qualifications:
are familiar and abide by the safety instructions and sections of this manual related to installation of the product;
are familiar with and abide by the applicable local, national and international laws and regulations;
are able to recognize the possible dangers of the product and take the necessary measures to protect persons and property.
2.4. Protective measures
2.4.1. Personal protective equipment (PPE)

2.5. Residual risks
Despite the safe design and construction of the product and the prescribed protective measures, the product possesses residual risks. This manual provides safety messages to indicate these risks. The formatting and appearance of safety messages that are dedicated to a particular section or sentence is explained in chapter 1. Preface. For the overall safety messages see chapter 2.7. Safety precautions.
2.6. How to handle in case of an emergency
Look after your own safety first. Only if possible, cut the power as soon as possible.
2.7. Safety precautions
2.7.1. Electricity
WARNING
Always cut the power to the circuit before installing the product. Inform the customer about the power cut beforehand.
The electrical system must be voltage-free during the entire installation procedure. Failing to do so can lead to serious injury or even death.
The installation procedure must be carried out by a trained electrician who works in accordance with all relevant local laws and regulations.
Do not install in potentially explosive atmospheres and/or zones with high electromagnetic radiation and/or in flood-prone areas.
The charge point is connected to the electricity grid and even if the equipment is switched off, hazardous voltages may be present at the input terminals.
Do not carry out any work in rainy conditions or when the humidity is above 95%.
The safety guidelines are intended to ensure correct installation and usage. Any failure to comply with the valid safety guidelines or instructions provided in this manual may result in fire, electrocution or severe injury.
The charge point is a product in safety class I and is supplied with an earth terminal for protection purposes.
The AC input terminal blocks must be fitted with an uninterruptible earth for protection purposes. Ensure that the connection cables are fitted with fuses and circuit breakers.
Never replace a protection component with another type that decreases the safety level. First check the full installation to determine if that component can be used with the existing installation components.
Before you switch on the charge point, check that the available power source matches the configuration settings of the product, as described in this manual.
Tripping of the MCB, RCD or RCBO could be caused by an earth fault, leakage or a defect contactor. If, after resetting the MCB, RCD or RCBO, the device cannot be activated or immediately trips again; please contact NewMotion or your installer.
2.8. Labels
The warning labels and information signs on the product must be followed. The warning labels and information signs must be kept legible and must be replaced if necessary. For this purpose, contact the manufacturer.

3.4. Networking
All charge points will need to be connected to the backoffice. The preferred option is to use a 2G/4G cellular connection on the Business Pro charge point. Because of the built-in SIM card, the Business Pro charge point will automatically connect to the NewMotion backoffice when powering up.
If no sufficient signal is available (minimum -80 dBm) a mobile router needs to be installed. The preferred option is to use a Wi-Fi connection between the charge point and the mobile router. Alternatively, an Ethernet cable can be used.
3.5. Smart Charging services
3.5.1. Phase rotation
Business Pro & Lite 2.1 / 2.2 charge points can be installed using a 3-phase power connection. However, many electric vehicles only use the first phase when charging. To avoid all 1-phase electric vehicles charging on the same phase, apply phase rotation to evenly distribute the energy consumption among all three phases. Phase rotation means alternating the order of the phase wires inside the charge point, at the bottom of the kWh meter. There are three possible phase rotation options. Good practice is to make sure that all three options are evenly distributed across all charge points.

3.5.2. Dynamic Power Sharing
The Business Line uses Dynamic Power Sharing to evenly distribute the energy consumption throughout the connected charge points.
Dynamic Power Sharing sets a static maximum allowed current consumption for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro. It can be realised by connecting multiple charge points with Ethernet cables in a daisy chain or star configuration. Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.
See chapter 3.6. Creating a project plan for more information.
The Business Pro & Lite charge points can use Dynamic Power Sharing to evenly distribute the energy consumption throughout the connected charge points.

3.5.3. Dynamic Power Management for Business
Set a dynamic maximum current for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro, by measuring the energy consumption of the building.
The Business Pro & Lite charge points can be equipped with Dynamic Power Management for Business for optimal use of the available power.
The EMpro power meter measures the entire energy consumption at the main grid connection and the Business Pro is instructed what the maximum grid capacity is during the commissioning of the system.
The Business Pro aggregates all the charge points within the charge point network to make sure that the total energy consumption does not exceed the grid capacity limit.
Dynamic Power Management for Business sets a dynamic maximum current for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro, by measuring the real-time energy consumption of the building and subtracting it with the total energy consumption being used by the charge points.
It can be realised by creating a network configuration of multiple charge points with Ethernet cables in either a daisy chain configuration, star configuration or a combination of the two.
Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.

3.6. Creating a project plan
Before installing the Business Pro & Lite 2.1 / 2.2 charge points, set up a project plan to make sure all the charge points are installed and interconnected correctly to realise the Smart Charging services, as described in chapter 3.5.
A project plan should contain at least the following information:
A blueprint of the parking lot with designated locations for all charge points;
A blueprint of the site with designated locations for all charge points, electrical wiring and protection and data cables;
Location of the Business Pro charge point;
Mounting method for each charge point;
Which charge points need to be 1-phase or 3-phase connected;
Backoffice connection method for the Pro charge point(s), there are three possibilities:
1. Cellular connection using the built-in SIM-card;
2. Ethernet connection to a nearby enabled internet router;
3. Ethernet connection to a separately available mobile Wi-Fi router.
Necessity of Dynamic Power Sharing, determine the maximum current per phase per charge point and the maximum current per phase, all charge points combined;
Configuration of phase rotation for each charge point, if applicable;
Necessity of Dynamic Power Management for Business, determine the maximum current per phase per charge point and the maximum current per phase of the grid connection;
Distance between each charge point, for cable length calculations;
Interconnectivity configuration for all charge point groups. The charge points must be interconnected in groups to enable Dynamic Power Sharing or Dynamic Power Management for Business. There are multiple network configurations possible:

3.7. Nameplate

4. Transport and storage
4.1. Transport
Do not drop the product and avoid bumping when transporting the product. Excessive vibrations during transport can lead to loosened connections and can influence proper functioning of the product.
4.2. Storage
Disconnect the product from the power supply when storing the product.
Always store the product in environmental conditions that fall within the ranges as stated in chapter 3.3. Technical specifications. Place the product back in the shipping box or cover the product to minimize exposure to dust, moist and protect it from damages.

5.2.1. Power cable
The electrician is responsible for selecting the power cable type and size & safety components appropriate for the specific situation and according to local regulations;
Wire for the current at the maximum charging speed of the charge point under continuous load;
Calculate with a power factor of 0.8;
Calculate with a maximum allowable voltage drop over the cable that is specified by local regulations.*;
Use shielded cable for underground cabling;
Cable thickness: Ø 10 - 22.5 mm;
Wire cross section
Solid wires: maximum 10 mm2;
Stranded wires: 6 mm2 with end ferrules.
_NOTICE_ The charge point can be limited between 6 A and 32 A, as described in chapter 7.3. Switching on the charge point.
*NewMotion is not responsible for voltage fluctuation in the grid. The electric vehicle may be more sensitive to voltage drop.

5.2.2. Data cable and network switch (optional)
Ethernet cable: Standard CAT5 or CAT6 UTP ground cable with T568B-wired RJ45 connectors;
_NOTICE_ When using a network switch, make sure you use an unmanaged switch. The Business Pro charge point is a DHCP server and works best when connected to an unmanaged network. Managed switches could be a possible solution, but are more prone to faulty networks.
The maximum length of data cables between two devices is 100 meters.
_NOTICE_ Install underground data cables in PVC conduits.

5.2.3. Earthing
The electrician is always responsible for selecting a cable cross-section appropriate for the specific situation and according to regulations;
TN-system: PE-cable (PEN conductor is not allowed);
TT-system: separately installed earthing electrode < 100 Ohm spreading resistance.
IT-system: only 1-phase compatible. Transformer required for 3-phase.

5.2.4. Required nominal input voltage at charge point
Single phase*: 230 V ± 10 % - 50 Hz
Triple phase*: 400 V (3 × 230 V + N) ± 10% - 50 Hz

* 3-phase charge point can also be connected to a 1-phase installation. In this case the charge point can only charge on 1-phase. Only connect L1 on the terminal block of the charge point;
* Some electric vehicles can have a smaller voltage tolerance than 10%. If you experience charging issues and see that the voltage is around the edges of the 10% voltage tolerance, check if the electric vehicle type is compatible to charge on your measured voltage.


5.2.5. Electrical protection
MCB
B- or C-characteristic*;
The installer must select a suitable MCB to match the charging limit of the charge point, taking into account MCB manufacturer specifications, selectivity rules, and EV-Ready guidelines.
_NOTICE_ Due to rising temperatures that occur under continuous load, derating of the overcurrent protection can happen. This causes the breaker to trip sooner than the rated current when temperatures within the consumer unit rise above 40 ºC, which is practically always the case when charging a vehicle. Therefore, it is advised to set a lower charging limit of the charge point than the rated current of the protection of the charge point:
Set the limit at 80% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into an existing consumer unit between other electrical components.
Set the limit at 90% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into a dedicated enclosure with sufficient cooling, or when a simultaneity factor of 1 has been used in the design of the consumer unit.

RCD
According to IEC 60364-7-722:2015, this charge point must be installed with at least an RCD type A**
IEC 60364-7-722:2015, paragraph 722.531.2.101:

Except for circuits using the protective measure of electrical separation, each connecting point shall be protected by its own RCD of at least type A, having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
Where the EV charging station is equipped with a socket-outlet or vehicle connector complying with the IEC 62196 series, protective measures against DC fault current shall be taken, except where provided by the EV charging station. The appropriate measures, for each connection point, shall be as follows:
RCD type B; or
RCD type A and appropriate equipment that ensures disconnection of the supply in case of DC fault current above 6 mA.
RCDs shall comply with one of the following standards: IEC 61008-1, IEC 61009-1, IEC 60947-2 or IEC 62423.

_NOTICE_ When installing according to EV-Ready guidelines, every type A RCD shall have a high immunity: type HPI, SI, HI, KV … depending on the supplier.

With overcurrent- and residual-current detection as described above.
_NOTICE_ The charge point is supplied with a DC fault detection device certified according to IEC 62955.

_NOTICE_ The charge point can be limited between 6 A and 32 A, as described in chapter 7.3. Configuration.

5.2.6. Accessory cable for EV- and ZE-Ready installation
Use a power cable for the additional isolator with the following specification:
3 x 1,5-4 mm2 - L1, N + PE;
Use shielded cable for underground wiring.
5.2.7. Additional isolator for EV- and ZE-Ready installation
This charge point supports the connection of an additional isolation function, as described in the EV-Ready 1.4 G regulation (EV3). In the event that the contactor of the charge point should be welded, the built-in welding detection will trigger a signal to which an external additional isolator can be connected.
Four different additional isolators are advised, but are not exclusive:

5.2.8. Charge point mounting
For wall mounting, use 5 × coach screws (6.3 × 70 mm), washers and plugs.
For pole mounting on a concrete base, use fill sand to cover the hole of the concrete base for optimal stability.

5.3. Preparation
Cut the power to the circuit on which you plan to install the charge point.
1. Apply proper lockout-tagout equipment for personal safety.
2. Prepare the cabling, RCD and MCB according to local rules and regulations. It is also possible to use an RCBO if local rules and regulations allow it.
3. Apply labelling to the used circuit on the consumer unit for future reference.
4. Update the schedule of circuits to include the charge point installation.
5. Check the project plan for the selected network connection method of the Business Pro charge point. If the method is not cellular, prepare an Ethernet cable from an internet enabled (mobile) router to the Business Pro charge point location.
_NOTICE_ Do not strip or attach a connector to the Ethernet cable on the charge point side yet.
6. Label the Ethernet cable on the charge point side for reference during installation.
7. Check the project plan for the interconnection configuration and distance between every charge point.
8. Check the project plan for implementation of Dynamic Power Management for Business. If Dynamic Power Management for Business is implemented in the setup, prepare an Ethernet cable from the main circuit board of the building to either the Business Pro charge point or the unmanaged network switch, depending on the interconnection configuration.
9. Label the Ethernet cable on the charge point side for reference during installation.
10. Prepare Ethernet cables between every charge point location.
_NOTICE_ Do not strip or attach a connector to the Ethernet cable on the charge point side yet.

11. Twist the socket lid counterclockwise and pull it from the cover (see figure 11 1 2).
12. Pull the cover from the casing to open the charge point and access the internal components (see figure 11 3).
13. Check if all the connected wiring and internal components of the product are properly fastened.

1. Use a cable- or stud detector to determine that you will not hit anything when drilling into the wall.

2. Place the pole on the concrete base.
3. Secure the pole to the concrete base using 4 provided M8 × 35 mm Allen bolts and washers (see figure 27).

To make optimal use of the available power of 3-phase connections, use phase rotation when installing multiple charge points. There are three possible phase rotations (see figures 36, 37 and 38).
CAUTION
If phase rotation is not correctly applied, Dynamic Power Sharing will not work correctly and could result in overloading the grid connection.
All charge points must be installed and connected in accordance to the installation procedure of this manual.
Always apply phase rotation at the bottom of the kWh meter.

6.4. Installing the Dynamic Power Management for Business module
WARNING
The electrical system must be voltage-free during the entire installation procedure. Failing to do so can lead to serious injury or even death.

7.1. Installation form
Every group of interconnected charge points consists of one Business Pro charge point and up to 40 Business Lite charge points. It is important to identify this charge point in every group. This charge point manages all the connected Lite charge points.
For the configuration to be successful, please fill in the installation form on the back of the Quick Installation Guide during the installation of the charge points. Use one installation form for each group of interconnected charge points.

Fill in the maximum current per phase of the grid connection and the maximum current per phase for all charge points combined at the bottom of the installation form.
_NOTICE_ The fallback current of charge point group is the energy that is always available on site for the charge point group. In case the Dynamic Power Management for Business module is disconnected, the maximum current per phase of all charge points combined will fall back to this value.
7.2. Checks before switching on
1. Measure the insulation resistance (IR), this needs to be >1MΩ.
2. Check if all screws and connections are securely fastened.
3. Check if all phase wires are properly connected.
4. Check if the data cables are properly wired.
5. Measure if the voltage on the applied MCB, RCD or RCBO in the consumer unit is within 10% of 230V between the phase(s) and neutral, before turning on the protection device of the charge point.
6. Check if the electrical protection is correctly labeled as described in chapter 5.8.
7. Check if the schedule of circuits includes the charge point installation.
7.3. Switching on the charge point
1. Switch on the power to the circuit on which the charge point is installed.
The charge point starts up and the LED will first blink red and then green.
2. Wait until the LED stops blinking and stays off. This may take 5 - 10 minutes.
_NOTICE_ First switch on the Business Pro, and wait until the charge point is properly connected before switching on the Business Lite charge points that are connected to the Business Pro.
_NOTICE_ Tripping of the MCB, RCD or RCBO could be caused by an earth fault, leakage or a defect contactor. If, after resetting the MCB, RCD or RCBO, the device cannot be activated or immediately trips again; please contact NewMotion or your installer.
7.4. Configuration
All NewMotion charge points need to be configured to work correctly, but the configuration process is different per charge point type.
The Business charge points need to be configured by the NewMotion Installation helpdesk. Fill out the installation form before calling the Installation helpdesk.
_NOTICE_ As per December 2021, the Business charge points will be able to use the Installer app for configuration and the Installation helpdesk no longer needs to be called after an installation.

7.4.1. Network connection
All NewMotion charge points need to be configured in order to function correctly. However, the configuration process is different per charge point type.
The Business charge points need to be configured by the NewMotion Installation helpdesk.
Fill in the Installation form before calling the Installation helpdesk.
_NOTICE_ As of December 2021, the Business charge points will be able to use the Installer app for configuration and the Installation helpdesk no longer needs to be called after an installation.

7.4.2. Configuration settings - Standard business installation
Fill in the required settings on the Installation form, fill in the answers in Ampere per phase.
Phase rotation of each charge point.
Select whether you have applied phase rotation option 1, 2, or 3.
The charging limit of every charge point.
Configure the charging limit as described in the MCB specifications of chapter 5.2.4.. The value for the charging limit is set in Ampere and applies to all phases. It can be adjusted in steps of 1 A.
Set the limit at 80% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into an existing consumer unit between other electrical components.
Set the limit at 90% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into a dedicated enclosure with sufficient cooling, or when a simultaneity factor of 1 has been used in the design of the consumer unit.
The charging limit of the charge point group.
This is Dynamic Power Sharing.

7.4.3. Configuration settings - Dynamic Power Management for Business
When Dynamic Power Management for Business is applied, also the following features will have to be configured. Fill in the required settings on the Installation form.
Capacity of the grid supply.
This is the contracted supply of the site and the value in current per phase which the Dynamic Power Management for Business system is supposed to guard.
Fallback current of the charge point group.
In case the Business Pro charge point loses connection to the Dynamic Power Management for Business module, the charge point group will not charge more than this value.
_NOTICE_ The charge point will have to reboot at the end of the configuration for the changes to take effect.
7.4.4. Electrical protection
1. Select whether you have installed the charge point with a Dynamic Power Management module or as a stand-alone unit.
2. Set for a stand-alone installed charge point the rated current of the overcurrent protection and the charge point limit.
3. Also set the capacity of the grid connection when Dynamic Power Management is installed.
Capacity of the grid connection
The rated current of the main MCB or fuse at the grid connection of the house.
Overcurrent protection
You have installed the charge point on a dedicated protection device. Use the rated current of that protection device to configure the charge point. This device is also called an MCB or an RCBO.
Charging limit of the charge point
Configure the charging limit as described in the MCB specifications of chapter 5.2.4. The value for the charging limit is set in Ampere and applies to all phases. It can be adjusted in steps of 1 A.
Set the limit at 80% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into an existing consumer unit between other electrical components.
Set the limit at 90% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into a dedicated enclosure with sufficient cooling, or when a simultaneity factor of 1 has been used in the design of the consumer unit.
_NOTICE_ The charge point will reboot at the end of the app flow for the configuration change to take effect.

7.5. Testing the installation
Before completion it is crucial to thoroughly test the installation and correct functioning of the charge point.

7.5.1. Electrical installation
Test the electrical installation using an EVSE testing adaptor and an installation tester.
Make sure to measure at least the voltage, the external fault loop impedance (Ze), and the total system fault loop impedance (Zs). Also, test the correct working of the DC fault detection and RCD of the charge point according to local rules and regulations.
Make sure to measure that at least the following are according to local rules and regulations:
Voltage
the external fault loop impedance (Ze)
the total system fault loop impedance (Zs)
Test the correct working of the charge point's:

7.5.2. Functional
RFID
Make sure that you have tested the RFID reader by swiping an RFID token to start a charge session.
Charge
Use your EVSE testing adaptor to ensure the correct functioning of the charge point.

7.5.3. Dynamic Power Management for Business (optional)
1. Double-check and make absolutely sure that the L1 of the Rogowski current sensors is also the L1 in the phase rotation configuration!
a. Measure the voltage between L1 of the main switch and L1 of the module. The measurement should be 0V.
b. Repeat this for L2 and L3. If there is no voltage between the measured contacts, they have to be the same phase.
2. Check if the direction of the Rogowski current sensors are correct by looking at the Power measurement on the EMpro power meter.
Check the following values on the interface of the Dynamic Power Management for Business module:
1. Check if the voltage measurement (V) is ~230V between L-N and ~400V between L-L.
2. Check if the current measurement (I) on each phase is as expected.
3. Check the power measurement (P) values. All the values should be positive when there are no solar panels or other energy producers installed.
_NOTICE_ If there is a minus symbol on one of the 3 phases, and there is no solar system installed, the direction of the Rogowski current sensors is incorrect.
Fix this by inverting the white and blue wires of the corresponding Rogowski current sensor at the Dynamic Power Management for Business module.
4. Check the power factor (PF). Generally, a power factor of 0.8 or above is considered a good power factor. If there is a peculiar value, it is because the meter is not measuring the voltage and current on the same phase. When there are two peculiar values, it can be corrected by simply swapping the blue and white wires of the Rogowski current sensors of those phases at the Dynamic Power Management for Business module.
5. Contact your local NewMotion Installation desk to have the Dynamic Power Management for Business system configured. Keep the filled-in installation form at hand for easier configuration.
7.6. Handover the installation
1. Take clear pictures and send them to your NewMotion Installation desk of:
the Installation form(s);
every charge point where the electrical and data connections (power cables, tethered cables, data cables) are clearly visible, including the serial number of the concerning charge point;
the main distribution board and relevant sub-distribution board(s) before and after the installation;
civil works before and after the installation;
Dynamic Power Management for Business module, when applied.
2. Schematics of delivered installation, including:
the location of charge points;
routing and length of power and data cables;
type of power and data cable and applied protection devices;
parking spot ID's as described on the Installation form;
network switches;
distribution boards;
Dynamic Power Management for Business module, when applied.
3. Archive the Installation form securely for future use, like troubleshooting or expansion of the installation.
_NOTICE_ A good place to store the Installation form is along with the schedule of circuits of the installation in the distribution board.
8. Regular use
8.1. Start charging
1. Connect your car to the charge point by plugging in the charging cable.
If AutoCharge is configured, a charge session will start automatically.
If you have to identify first;
2. Swipe your charge token above the charge point light.
First the LED will flash green to authenticate the card, after authentication, the session will start.
When the car has delayed charging configured, the LED will remain green, until both the car and charge point allow the charging to start.
_NOTICE_ If the charge point light is blinking red, the session is not authorised.
_NOTICE_ With some vehicles it is necessary that the car is locked before the charging process is started. If charging does not start immediately, check the settings of the vehicle to ensure that no delayed charging is active.

8.2. Stop charging
To stop charging when AutoCharge is configured, unlock the charging cable at the side of the electric vehicle.
To stop charging when charge token authentication is configured, swipe the same charge token that has been used to start the charge session.

8.4. Tethered cable
If you have purchased a charge point with tethered cable functionality. After a charge session do the following:
1. Unlock the charging cable from the vehicle.
2. Roll the cable around the back of the charge point.
_NOTICE_ Make sure to avoid kinks in the cable.
3. Connect the connector into the dummy socket of the charge point.
_NOTICE_ By placing the connector back into the dummy socket of the charge point, it is protected against water and dirt.

9. Troubleshooting
WARNING
Troubleshooting must be carried out by a trained electrician who works in accordance with all relevant local laws and regulations.
The charge point is connected to the electricity grid and even if the equipment is switched off, hazardous voltages may be present at the input terminals.
Do not carry out any work in rainy conditions or when the humidity is above 95%.

There is no light on the charge point when the charge cable is plugged in
The power is not connected to the charge point

1. Check if the power cables are well inserted in the terminal block of the charge point.
If the power cables are connected tightly, proceed to the next step.
2. Check if the RCD and circuit breaker in the consumer unit are turned on.
If turned on, proceed to the next step.
3. Check if the power cable is live (230 Volt (± 10%)) between L1 and N) using a voltage tester.
If the power cable is live, proceed to the next step.
4. Reboot the charge point by turning it off by flipping the circuit breaker in the consumer unit and turn it back on after 20 seconds. It takes around 5-10 minutes for the charge point to reboot.
5. If possible, try with a different charge cable that is tested on a different charge point and proved not broken.
If no result:
If you are sure that the charge cable is not broken: please contact your local NewMotion Installation desk.
LED light is flashing red
An unauthorised charge card is being swiped
The owner of the charge point can manage access authorization of the charge point via my.newmotion.com or Business Hub.
LED light is constantly red with no charge cable plugged in

1. Reboot the charge point by turning it off by flipping the circuit breaker in the consumer unit and turn it back on after 20 seconds. It takes around 5-10 minutes for the charge point to reboot.
If no result, proceed to the next step.
2. Is the charge point installed vertically or is it tilted? There is a tilt sensor inside the charge point that detects if the charge point is not vertical which will activate a safety mechanism preventing any charge session from starting.
If the charge point is installed vertically, proceed to the next step.
3. Measure the voltage at the grid connection between each phase and neutral. The voltage range should be within 230 Volt ± 10% (between 207 Volt and 253 Volt). If it is outside this range at the side of the customer’s grid connection, inform the local grid operator about this issue. The grid operator is responsible to provide a voltage within this range.
If the voltage at the grid connection is within the 10% tolerance, proceed to the next step.

4. Measure the voltage at the charge point between each phase and neutral. The voltage range should be within 230 Volt ± 10% (between 207 Volt and 253 Volt). If it is outside this range at the side of the charge point but within this range at the grid connection, check if the cross section of the power cable is large enough (maximum 10 mm2).
If the voltage is within the 10% tolerance, proceed to the next step.
5. Measure the earth resistance of the charge point, it should be lower than 100 Ohms. If it is higher, install a proper grounding solution. For example: add an earthing rod directly connected to the charge point.
If no result:

6. Check if any message appears on the dashboard of the vehicle.
If no message: proceed to the next step.
7. Check if the vehicle is able to charge on a different charge point. If it is not able to charge somewhere else: tell the customer to go to the car dealer to have the vehicle tested.
If the electric vehicle is able to charge on a different charge point: proceed to the next step.
8. If possible, check if a different vehicle is able to charge on the charge point. If this is possible: tell the customer to go to the car dealer.
If a different vehicle is also not able to charge on the charge point: proceed to step 5.
9. Measure the voltage at the grid connection between each phase and neutral during a charge session. The voltage range should be within 230 Volt ± 10% (between 207 Volt and 253 Volt).
If the voltage is outside the 10% range at the side of the customer’s grid connection: inform the local grid operator about this issue. The grid operator is responsible to provide a voltage within this range.
If the voltage is within the 10% range during a charge session: proceed to step 6.
10. Measure the voltage at the charge point between each phase and neutral during a charge session. The voltage range should be within 230 Volt ± 10% (between 207 Volt and 253 Volt). If it is outside this range at the side of the charge point but okay at the grid connection, see if the wiring of the power cable is thick enough (maximum 10 mm2).
If the voltage is within the 10% range during a charge session: proceed to the next step.
11. Measure the earth resistance of the charge point, it should be lower than 100 Ohms. If it is higher, install a proper grounding solution. For example: add an earthing rod directly connected to the charge point.
If no result:
Charge point may be broken, please contact your local NewMotion Installation desk.
LED light is constantly yellow for more than 10 minutes without charge cable plugged in
The charge point may be faulted
1. Reboot the charge point by turning it off by flipping the circuit breaker in the consumer unit and turn it back on after 20 seconds. It takes around 5-10 minutes for the charge point to reboot. Try another charge session after rebooting.
If no result:
Charge point may be broken, please contact your local NewMotion Installation desk.
LED light is constantly green
Meaning: the charge point is in charge session but charging is delayed. This is normal.
This can be a problem if the car is not charged overnight.
The electric vehicle is delaying the charge session
1. Check if the electric vehicle has a delayed charging timer scheduled or if there is a limit on maximum battery state of charge.
2. If so, check with the customer if this schedule and limit is indeed desired, otherwise it can be turned off.
3. Check if the customer is able to charge on different charge points.
If you are suspicious something may be wrong:
Dynamic Power Sharing could be activated, preventing the charge point to continue charging.
1. Disable any kind of delayed charging features of the electric vehicle.
If the LED light does not turn blue, proceed to step 2.
2. Check the data cable between the Business Pro and the Business Lite(s) using a network cable tester. If the data cable is tested okay, proceed to step 3.
If the vehicle is tested okay by the car dealer and the data cables have been tested, but the light still remains green while you suspect that the charge point should be charging, please contact your local NewMotion Installation desk.
LED light is flashing purple
The charge point is rebooting or doing a firmware upgrade.
Wait approximately 10 minutes for the charge point to finish rebooting. Do not interrupt the rebooting sequence by turning off the power.
